This Athens, Georgia institution has been a cornerstone of the city's famous music scene since 1976. Wuxtry is perhaps most famous for being where R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck met Michael Stipe while working behind the counter. Future Danger Mouse (Brian Burton) was also once an employee. Beyond its storied history, the store continues to thrive with deep selections of rock, indie, and local music across both new and used vinyl and CDs. The Athens location also features a terrific comics shop upstairs, making it a dual destination for collectors.
